Stumbling over a spider’s web 2018
Take all the clear glasses you have and place them next to each other.
Caress their shape.
Choose 2 tumblers, but different sizes. The larger one must be able to hold the smaller one (but only after a fragmentation and reassembly of the latter).
Wrap the smaller glass with sheets of newsprint.
Take the object in your hands, stand up and wander around the house until you choose a solid point (no carpets, cushions or delicate floors).
Let it gently slide out of your hands. Enjoy this cathartic moment.
Listen to the sound produced.
Pick up the package and place it on the worktop, next to the second glass, the big belly.
Wear thin but strong gloves.
Now you can unroll the sheets of paper, being careful not to lose any of the shards of glass you will pull out.
There! Finally the game begins. Find the pieces that match and glue them, precisely, one after the other, until you put the glass back together. Watch out! The reconstruction must take place inside the glass intact.
Don’t let yourself be distressed if the operation seems impossible.
If you get nervous leave the worktop, devote yourself to something else and come back when you feel in the right mood. There’s no hurry after all.
Rejoice in every piece that finds its place.
Rejoice for those who won’t find it in the end.
Find a place in the house where the sun filters freely and place your sculpture (take care not to forget the fragments that have not found their place) so that you can observe the shadows it produces.
Your work is now complete.
