The Dodecahedral diamond inner image
A small shapeless mass of black carbon lays into the earth core, surrounded by fused rock. The carbon is compressed by a violent pressure at extreme high temperature and invested by burning currents. Now an unexpected metamorphosis takes place. Into the realm of the mineral there is a specific ‘spirit of the shape’ that creates the crystal. Barely perceptible changes start to work towards the creation of the crystals atom net, designing a tetrahedral structure. Overtime a luminous substance solidifies into celestial geometries resonant with platonic solid forms.
Slowly the original dark carbon mass is transformed in a shining dodecahedral crystal, brilliant and clear of any impurity. It is the shaping of the diamond. The diamond is now an organ of perception of the earth which perceives the light, as the eye is for the human being. With its new angles and sharp corners the geometrical shape irradiates its power.
The sharp light of the diamond is as clear and transparent as the purest of ideas and it requires a subtle spiritual attitude to perceive it: it is the metaphor of the transformation from dark to the luminous substance of the human being. The magma slowly push the diamond through the Kimberlite Chimneys toward the surface. Let’s now concentrate on the dodecahedral shape of the diamond which is constituted by twelve equal pentagons.
Let’s consider the stability and the strength of the diamond structure. It is the same stability and strength that you fill in your body.
Let’s contemplate the symmetry and the shining light of the dodecahedral diamond. It is the same light that rises from our feet to the legs and arms till the edge of our fingers, flowing in our spine and elating us. Now you are the dodecahedral diamond.

Emilio Fantin sets the conditions for a dialectical comparison between different knowledge, from mathematical logic, to the world of dreams, to agriculture, where he investigates the relationships between plants, land and other forms of life. His forays into the field of logic and the dream world aim to illuminate the boundary between reason and intuition, fertile ground for surprising imaginations. Coordinator of the Oreste project, since 2011 he is the promoter of the project “Dynamica”, a nomadic study group, for a research on the relationship between different knowledge. Together with the other artists of the Lu Cafausu project, he has created the Lac o le Mon Foundation (San Cesario di Lecce, Puglia) for artistic research. In addition to artistic institutions, he has collaborated with the Faculties of Mathematical Logic, Psychology and Letters and Philosophy of the Sapienza University of Rome and with the Museum of Peasant Civilization of San Marino in Bentivoglio. From 2005 to 2015 teaches at the Politecnico di Milano, Faculty of Architecture.
