The reappropriation of the city: Your itineraries.
Draw the map of your city: there are as many cities as there are inhabitants of the city itself.
In the project exercise “how to draw the map of your city” Ugo La Pietra, resuming the research of the Seventies on “The re-appropriation of the city”, invites us to draw “Our own itineraries” of the city in which we live; an exercise that helps us to make the city, often depersonalizing, belong to us, following the slogan that La Pietra has been promoting since the Sixties: “To live is to be everywhere at home”.
1 – Search online for a street map of your city and print it out.
2 – take a sheet of paper, preferably tracing paper, or a sheet that allows you to see through (baking paper, tissue paper, etc.).
3 – superimpose the sheet on the street map of your city
4 – mark your preferred itineraries (for example: the routes of affection, fun, information…)
5 – put your signature: you will have obtained YOUR city map
Realized on the occasion of the re-proposal of the project at Hangar Bicocca in 2017, on the occasion of the exhibition “Take me, I’m yours”.
